Vegan Bacon - Maple and Pepper Tofu
This tofu substitute for vegan bacon is smokey, sweet, and peppery. It's super easy to make, requires few ingredients and is a delicious vegan breakfast!

tofu (14 oz)
pressed and cut into triangles

soy sauce
tamari for gluten free

drops
liquid smoke

maple syrup

freshly ground pepper

Instructions
Combine the tofu, maple syrup, and liquid smoke and marinate for about 5 minutes
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add some oil to prevent the tofu from sticking. Pan fry the tofu until golden brown, 2 - 3 minutes per side.
Add the maple syrup and ground pepper to the pan and continue cooking and stirring until the maple syrup starts to get sticky and caramelize.
Plate the tofu and add a pinch of salt to the dish.
Notes
This dish can be gluten-free by swapping out the soy sauce for tamari.
